THE BEST Filtered Water Bottle:
https://amzn.to/4cyGWma

The last thing you want while traveling is to get traveler's diarrhea.
This water bottle filters bacteria.
(Water will shoot out if opening in a plane due to pressure) So, unscrew the bottom lid for a second to let the pressure out once in the air, then screw it back on and you're good to go!

To filter viruses:

Run the UV light inside the water in the bottle and the water will be filtered for viruses and bacteria.
The UV light kills viruses in the water.  Filters alone only filter out bacteria because viruses are much smaller and pass through filters.  This UV light makes sure viruses are killed.

Worldwide power adapter with USB and USB C:
https://amzn.to/3PB2lBe

*This will not convert voltage.  So do NOT use this with a hair dryer.  It will work with electronics such as laptops and cell phones.  Look at your device power adapter, if it covers 110-240v it will work with this.

Charge up your laptop, iPhone, Apple watch.  For fast charging, use the side 100w USB-C port!

A Tote:

Bring a tote with you because some locations do not have plastic bags to give out in supermarkets.  A tote helps in that regard.  It helps when doing laundry at a hotel or laundromat.  And any other needs.  A tote just comes in handy.

AirPod Pros:

AirPod Pros are great because they have noise cancellation.  Wear them on the airplane to make the ride quieter!

Find yourself in a loud hotel?  Go to sleep with your Air Pod Pros with noise cancellation on.

Inflatable Neck Pillow:
https://amzn.to/3TAp7dG

This inflatable neck pillow is superior to non-inflatable neck pillows.  It tucks away when you don’t need it, and when you do use it, you can control the comfort level with how much air you put in.
You also don’t need to place it behind your neck, you can place it in front to rest your head forward and to the sides.

eSIM Apps:
If your cell phone provider has expensive or no service outside the US, simply installing an eSIM for the region you’ll be traveling to will give you service in that part of the world.  And it’s normally pretty inexpensive.  I recommend getting the eSIM a day before leaving.

Nomad eSIM App:
Here is a $3 off promo for any data plan on Nomad, come check it out https://getnomad.page.link/app. Enter code LEEO99WL to redeem.

Airalo eSIM App:
Get US$3 off your first eSIM data pack from Airalo. Use code LEEOR8539 when you sign up or apply it at checkout. https://ref.airalo.com/S7XH

ATMs:
To get local currency, an ATM is the best exchange, not the money exchange counter at airports.

If you use a Schwab Debit card, all ATM fees are refunded to you.  But ATMs have gotten smart and they now charge you worse exchange rates to make up for “no fees”.  For this reason, you have to be picky if you can.  Look for ATMs run by national banks in the region you are visiting.  Not ATMs run by private companies.  Private company ATMs can charge exorbitant exchange rates and fees.

Read every option clearly on the ATM screen.  They may charge a fee to do a conversion for you.  You need to carefully read and decline options.  Don't feel bad if you have to go through the steps multiple times until you get it right.

Picture
Credit Cards:
Use a credit card that does not charge foreign transaction fees.
When asked if you’d like to pay with the local currency or USD, select the local currency always.  If you opt for USD, they will charge you a bad exchange rate.  If you select local currency, the exchange rate is set by your credit card company, which is usually exact.

Sleeping on planes:
If you can’t fall asleep, I normally opt for Benadryl.
First, I wait to make sure the plane takes off.  I don’t want to fall asleep on the tarmac, especially if the plane gets delayed or turns back to the gate.
For short flights, I take 1.  For longer flights, I take 2.
Benadryl is habit-forming.  This means that if you seldom use it, it works.  If you use it daily for allergies, or very often, it loses its efficacy.
And of course, do not mix it with alcoholic drinks as you may end up on TikTok and a flight ban list :).

Picture
Jetlag:
If you are due to arrive in the morning at your destination, try to sleep as much as possible.  So, 7-8 hours of sleep before landing.
If you are due to arrive in the evening at your destination, stay awake as much as possible so that you can hit the bed when arriving.

Blood circulation:
Remember to get up and move around now and then on the plane to keep that blood circulation going!
